1. February Scholarships:  Physician’s Health Plan - February 28.  March Scholarships:  Common Application, Tiede Memorial, American Legion, North Central Co-Op - March 1, Book-Coleman, ISTA, Wells Fargo Trust - March 2.

2. Any senior interested in taking the AP English Language and Composition exam needs to see Mrs. Denney by Wednesday the 22nd.

3. Seniors:  Vincennes University is offering a Middle Income Hoosier Scholarship for students who are not eligible for state or federal grant funds.  To see if you qualify, go to their website at www.vinu.edu/middleincome.

4. Smoking, which is the most common cause of lung cancer, is also a leading cause of cancer of the mouth, throat, bladder, pancreas, and kidneys.  
Smokeless tobacco contains 28 ingredients than can cause cancer in your lips, tongue, cheeks, gums and the top and bottom of your mouth.
Tobacco can kill you!  Each year in the United States, cigarette smoking accounts for 440,000 deaths.  More deaths are caused each year by tobacco than by all deaths from HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides and murder combined.  Message:  DON'T SMOKE, DIP OR CHEW.

5. Girls in grades 6-8 should apply online or see Mrs. Denney if you are interested in  attending a Career Conference that will be held at Notre Dame University on Saturday, April 28 from 9 to 3.  Registration is limited to first come, first serve. Register at: http://www.nd.edu/~eyhnd.
       
6. New Scholarships have been posted in the hallway outside the guidance office.  Make copies if interested.  Deadlines run from February 17 - March 16.

7. Any female student interested in attending Purdue University's Connect with Computer Science Day on April 16th should see Mrs.Denney immediately to register.

8.  Vincennes University is hosting a senior night at the Courtyard Kokomo Wednesday night, Feb. 28th at 6 p.m.  See Mrs. Denney or the poster outside the cafeteria for details.  This would be a great opportunity for any student interested in attending Vincennes University.

9. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is offering a volunteer and leadership opportunity for students 13-17 this summer.  If interested apply at http://www.kidszoo.org/support/teenvolunteer or see Mrs. Denney for information.

10. Indiana University's Kelley School of business is offering a free summer program for any female junior who has an interest in business.  See Mrs. Denney if interested

11. The Wabash Co. Farm Bureau Scholarship is now available to seniors whose parents /guardians are current members of Wabash Co. Farm Bureau, Inc.  Deadline to return applications to Farm Bureau offices is March 15.  See Mrs. Denney for an application.

12. A representative from Lincoln Tech will be in the commons during lunch TODAY.   

13. Any senior who plans to pursue a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business with an interest in the automotive industry, should go to www.buickachievers.com and fill out the scholarship application.  Deadline to apply is February 29.

14. The Peabody/Strauss Aquatic Fitness Center is having it’s 1st annual Indoor Triathlon on Saturday, March 10th.  Individuals, or teams of 2 or 3 can compete in swimming, bicycling, and running.   Cost is $30.00 for an individual and $45 for a team.  Register before March 1st to get a t-shirt.   Forms are available at the pool or at https://sites.google.com/site/northmanchesterparks/  

15. The Indiana Farm Bureau Scholarship is now available in the guidance office.  Student or a family member must have been a member for a period of two years prior to application.  Deadline to apply is March 1.

16. Indiana University Kokomo is holding a VIP Day for seniors on February 22nd from 9 a.m. to 12:30.  Free t-shirt, free Lunch, and meet faculty.  Learn about admissions/financial aid.  $35 application fee waived.  See Mrs. Denney for more information.

17. Any senior in the top 20% of your class who lives in Kosciusko County should see Mrs.Denney to pick up the Dr.Howard and Helen Liebengood Scholarship.  Deadline to submit application to Mrs. Denney is March 16

18. Junior High Yearbook work session today for yearbook staff members in Mac Lab 114 after school, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

20. Mrs. Hire, the school nurse, is looking for volunteers to help with the blood drive on Monday, February 27, 2p - 7p, at the junior high gym.  I need helpers to supervise children, assist at registration and the snack table. Also, if you are 16 or older and would like to donate blood that would be awesome too.  Don't forget you need parent permission and an ID.   Please contact Mrs. Hire if you are interested.

21. Seniors are reminded that their non-refundable deposit for the Senior Trip is due March 23.  Seating is limited.  If you would like to attend please turn in your $45 deposit to Mrs. Ring by March 23.

22. Don't forget to pre-order your 2012 high school yearbook for $55.  This is the only way to guarantee you will receive a copy.  Order now through Spring Break.
